Free Topic! Types of Fabric

      Types of Fabric

There are many types of natural and synthetic fabric. I've chosen the most common used fabric to discuss in this post. It's important to know what are the clothes made of to be able to take care of it accordingly.

1. Cotton:
Cotton is natural fiber and it's  extracted from the cotton plant. It's one of the most common type of fabric. Cotton is a strong fabric, absorbent and easy to work with. Cotton has a tendency to shrink and to wrinkle. It's easy to take care of cotton clothing. It can be machine washed or dry cleaned.

2. Nylon:
Nylon is a chemically synthetic fiber. Nylon is known for it's property to resist moisture/water, and it dries fast.  It can be found in rain coats, swimwear, and active wear. Nylon should be washed in a cold water separate from other clothes, and dried either by air drying or setting the dryer on the coolest setting.

3. Polyester:
Polyester is also a chemically synthetic fiber. It's a strong fiber and it's known for its property to resist wrinkles. It's often blended with other fabric to provide the wrinkles resistance quality. It's not easy to remove stains from polyester. Polyester fabric can be easily washed in the washing machine and air dried or dried using the dryer on low heat setting.

4. Linen:
Linen is a natural fiber made out of the Flax plant. It's very popular for home use but also can be used in clothing. It can be found in forms of curtains, table cloth, bed sheets, etc.. It's a strong and comfortable fabric. Linen can be hand washed, and/or dry cleaned only. It irons into a nice crisp fabric.

5. Acrylic:

Acrylic is a chemically synthetic fabric. Acrylic fabric has the property of retaining its shape and texture after being washed and dried. Acrylic is widely used in knits, upholstery, covering and rugs. It's a soft and lightweight fiber. Acrylic fabric is machine washable.

6. Acetate:
Acetate is a chemically synthetic fabric. Acetate fabric has the property of moisture resistance and it dries easily. Acetate fabric has the appearance of a luxurious and silky look and feel to it. It's used in clothing and some home furnishing. Most Acetate made clothing need to be dry cleaned.

Would You Pay The Big Money For An Hermes Birkin Bag?

Hermes Birkin Bag!

There is no deny that the Hermes Birkin bag is beautiful and luxuries. But would you pay the money for it? Do you think it's worth that much? I'm sure that's subjective. Before we answer this question,  here is some details about this famous fashionable bag.
The Hermes Birkin bag came about when the chief executive of Hermes was in the same flight as Jane Birkin going from France to London. She told him that it was hard for her to find a nice bag to wear on the weekend. So he specially designed a bag for her that was named the Hermes Birkin Bag in 1984.
This bag used to be costume made only and it had a waiting list for about 6 years. However in 2010 it became available in any Hermes store. The material it's made of varies depending on the costume and type of leather. Each bag can take an average of 48 hours to make since it's hand made. The price ranges between $9000-$150,000 dollars!
So there is no deny in the quality and beauty of it, but would you pay almost half a mortgage for a bag even if money was no object?
Personally, I wouldn't! I just don't think it's right to spend that much money on a bag, even if I was a billionaire. I'd rather give that money to someone who needs it, or build something that can make a difference. That's just me! Let me know what you think? Have A Sweet Day!

How To know Your Style & Build Your Wardrobe?

 Tips on Building Your Wardrobe

And Finding Your Style!

Finding our own individual style can be challenging just because the older we get the more we are attracted to  different types of style. For example, you don't find what you wore at 10 or 15 years old as attractive as what you would wear in your twenties or thirties, etc..
As we evolve our style change. In addition, trends can also alter our style just because the stores are full of them so we end up getting a few trendy pieces that fades in a year or two.
That's being said I came up with a few tips on building your wardrobe and finding your style!

1. Find out what's your body type
If you want to look your best, you need to dress your body in what flatters it rather than what does not! You can find out your body type & what fits it best in this older post that I wrote here. I even included a calculator that tells you your body type after inserting your measurements. So after you find out your body type and what fits it best, you can shop for these pieces. It doesn't matter what the trend is at the moment if it doesn't fit you right, you should not buy it or wear it!
2. Build your basics
I've also written a post here about the basics. You can check it out and find out the basic pieces you need to have in your closet. Basics are important because they can represent the backbone of any outfit.

3. Find inspirations
You can clip magazines pictures, check out blogs, or search the web and print out pictures and so forth. Then you can collect them all in a notebook to find your inspiration whenever you need to. That way, you will start defining what you like vs. what you don't like.
4. Build out your outfits
Sometimes it's very time consuming to look for an outfit especially when you are in a hurry. So I think it's a great idea to try out different outfits from your closet. Mix and match them until you achieve the looks you like. Then take a picture of the pieces of the outfit. Collect all the pictures of the outfits you created & save them in a file in your computer, then print them out. Put them in a notebook. Categorize them in different categories. For example, work outfits, school outfits, going out outfits, casual outfits, etc... That way, you maximize the possibilities of your wardrobe and you save time. Because all you need to do is look in the notebook and you can decide what to wear right away when you find the outfit you want to wear for that day/occasion.

5. Find out what you are missing and shop for versatile pieces
After you make different outfits, sometimes you feel like if you had a certain piece, you can complete the look you would like to achieve for a certain outfit. For example, if you had a blue skirt, and you thought you would like to have a yellow top with it but you don't have it. Then, you can go shopping for it as long as it's versatile and you can find other pieces that matches it. So you can maximize your wardrobe possibilities and create more looks.

6. To define your style, you need to know who you are and how you feel
What we wear represent who we are because we are reflecting our inner self into the world. For example, if you feel like you are very feminine/girly person , then you can look for floral, lace, etc.. If you feel like you are an edgy person, then you can wear leather, spikes, etc.. However, sometimes our mood can alter how we feel each day, so there is no problem in grasping different styles depending on how we feel that day.

7. Organize your closet for easy access
An organized closet is a great way to find the pieces you want at the time you want. I've written a post here on how to organize your closet on a budget. If you read it you will find different tips on how to keep your wardrobe organized without breaking the bank.
I hope you enjoyed this post! Have A Sweet Day!

Losing Weight Main Factors

I didn't really want to talk much about this topic because I'm not an expert. However, I do want to share with you the main factors that promote losing weight. Your ideal body weight is relative. Everybody's goal weight is different. You shouldn't be influenced by what the media portrays as the ideal body image. The most important thing is to be healthy & comfortable with yourself. I'm sure most women have thought about losing weight for health reasons, to look and to feel good, or to rid themselves of post pregnancy weight. The most effective method to losing weight is to know how it works. It took me a while to grasp this. Losing weight requires TIME, DEDICATION, MOTIVATION, DETERMINATION & PATIENCE. However, how do we maintain that without giving up? Here is the simple answer (drum rolls)......You have to make the decision and stick to it!.... So it's all in your psyche.... Any diet plan will fail if you don't have the determination. That's why people will start a diet and then stop after a month or so because they can't sustain it. Also, "diet"  should not be the word that enters your psyche, you should think of it as a lifestyle change. The more you think of it as a diet, the more obsessed you become with food even if you were not obsessed with food before. Our mind plays a big role when it comes to losing weight. Being human, we always want what's prohibited. That's why you shouldn't think of bad food as something that is prohibited, think of it as something that is harmful for your body and you want to be healthy. That doesn't mean you can't enjoy some desert once in a while. The idea is to limit it from your daily food intake. Also, healthy food is always associated with bad taste. That's not how you should think of it. Instead look for tasty healthy recipes. For example, adding spices and herbs can make a big difference. So changing your perception about losing weight plays a big factor.
So How do you reach the point of making the decision and sticking to it?
1. Change your perception and how you think about losing weight. Like I mentioned above.
2. Think of the reasons you want to lose the weight for instead of putting yourself down. Visualize your goal and feel good about it.
3. Always surround yourself with a positive environment and positive people.
4. Reduce your stress by exercising. Believe it or not, exercise reduces stress and gets rid of toxins in your body. Pick a sport that you like and do it regularly. Or you can just walk.
5. Find the source that caused you to gain weight, some people gain weight for emotional reasons. So you have to work on your emotions and your soul searching before even thinking of losing weight. If these issues are deep and will require time, then try to make little changes in your food choices and gradually you will be healing your emotional wounds while losing weight.
6. Eat healthy filling food. For example, protein rich foods satiate hunger. Also, fruits and veggies are full of fiber and water which also satiate hunger.
7. Eat less than what you normally eat. Our stomach is a muscle and it can stretch or contract. So the more you eat, the bigger the stomach becomes. The less you eat, the more the stomach contracts, and gradually  the fuller you become with less food.
8. Eat Slowly. Take your time when you eat. Your brain takes about 20 minutes until it lets you know that you are full. So there is no need to eat fast if you don't have to. Just chew and enjoy every bite. Actually chewing also helps in digestion.
 9. Drink water. Water is great in flushing toxins out of our system, and hydrating our body. Sometimes we think we are hungry, but actually we might be just thirsty.
10.Do not give in to the negative power of instant gratification : Do your best not to stop at that fast food place when you need a quick fix ( this 1 stop will neutralize all positive efforts for the day  and maybe even the following day!! - because of the horrible content in the fast food). Use will power to hold off and instead prepare something healthy and good tasting. It may cost a little more, and it may not taste as good, but this kind of action will cause you to lose weight.
11. Be patient. Don't expect to see the results you want right way. Instead be happy about the little accomplishments you're achieving on a daily basis. And by accomplishments I mean doing what your doing.

How to organize your closet on a budget!

Messy closet can really affect how you style yourself because you won't be able to find the right top to go with the right pants, or the right accessories with the right dress and so forth. So organizing your closet is critical to how you look and feel.

However, if you are on a budget it can be tough to find the right organizational tools to help you organize your closet. Closet organizers can be pretty pricey. Well, I did the research for you and found out a few things that you can add to enhance the look and feel of your closet on a budget.

1. Instead of dressers, I found this 9 cube organizer that you can use as a dresser to put in your pants, t-shirts, or anything that fits. It's actually pretty spacious and it will fit many clothing items. It's only $39.99 and it is a very great organizer. It will save you space and get rid of the clutter. It will also give the feel of an organized space because everything will be easy to see and grab. It fits any regular size closet and definitely a walk in closet.
You can buy this from Target.

2. Shoes organizers: I found these two organizers that are pretty inexpensive and they will store your shoes in an organized way.

<==This one is from Target

               This one is from Ikea==>

3. Add shelves if you have space in your closet. You can put more clothing items or accessories like bags, or even more shoes depending on what you have. You can find this at Ikea

 4. Add hooks  to the wall or even the door of the closet to hang bags, jackets or anything you want. You can find this at target

5. For other items like belts, panty hose, underwear, socks, etc.. you can get this drawer organizer that you can put on a shelf or inside the 9 cube organizer. Also, you can get this hanger with circular loops to hang belts & scarves.

You can find both at Ikea.
Here are the links for both
1. Drawer         2. Hanger

6. You can also find hangers at target or IKEA. You can choose from different types of hangers just make sure they are all the same color to give it a more coordination and organizational feel.

In terms of how to organize clothes, you can do it by categories which I prefer like dresses, work shirts, dressy pants, jeans, skirts, tops and blouses, etc... Or you can do it by color. So do it the way that makes you feel comfortable. For laundry, you can get any hamper, basket, or even a bag. Also, Keep the clothing items you wear on a daily basis more accessible, while the ones you don't wear that often on the top shelves. I hope this post was useful. Have a sweet organized day :)!
